Canadian Poets Series #1 : ryan fitzpatrick

ryan fitzpatrick is the author of five books of poetry, from the forthcoming No Depression in Heaven (Vancouver BC: Talonbooks, 2025) to Fake Math (Montreal QC: Snare Books, 2007; find fitzpatrick's revised 2022 edition online as a free pdf here), Fortified Castles (Talonbooks, 2014) [see my review of such here], Coast Mountain Foot (Talonbooks, 2021) [see my review of such here] and Sunny Ways (Invisible, 2023) [see my review of such here]. fitzpatrick is the author of numerous chapbooks, including five from above/ground press, most recently Spectral Arcs (2024). above/ground press also released a festschrift on fitzpatrick's work, Report from the fitzpatrick Society, Vol. 1 No. 1 in 2023. fitzpatrick was interviewed in 2015 by Touch the Donkey, and recent work can be found online at The Capilano Review, action, spectacle, We Did It! and the Chaudiere Books blog as part of National Poetry Month. Their first nonfiction book Ace Theory, an essay-in-fragments about asexuality, will be published by Book*Hug in 2026. They are the 2024-25 Writer-in-Residence at the University of Alberta and are the publisher of the online-only, poetry-focused Model Press (a 2022 interview with fitzpatrick on the project lives here).
