Prism/Prison Is Here!We are so excited to share that after a year of dreaming and conspiring, our new project, Prism/Prison, has finally arrived. Featuring the work of ten artists with ties to Chicago alongside the art and writing from 24 women and trans people incarcerated nationwide, the magazine aims to foster dialogue between communities inside and out. Vol. 1 includes coloring pages and lines for journaling, two items we receive so many requests for that we very often can’t meet the demand. Prism/Prison is designed to fit that need.
We are deeply grateful to Illinois Humanities for the generous Envisioning Justice grant that supported this work. Because of this essential funding, we were able to offer each contributor $150.
And of course, a special thank you to the artists, poets, and writers who shared their work with us. Prism/Prison is truly a collaborative effort and incomplete without readers willing to sit with the works, color in the pages, and jot down their thoughts. We hope you’ll join us.
